Leak Detected Dishwasher Codes: What to Do First

A leak-detected code is not just an inconvenience. It means the appliance or sensor system believes water may be where it should not be.

Stop water movement

Cancel the cycle. If water is actively escaping and the shutoff valve is reachable without standing in water, shut off the supply.

Do not keep starting the dishwasher to see whether the code clears. A base-pan sensor may stay active until water is removed and the source is fixed.

Look for visible causes

Check the door seal, oversized items blocking spray arms, filter seating, detergent amount, drain backup, and loose hose connections under the sink.

Over-sudsing can look like a leak. Use only dishwasher detergent, not dish soap.

  • Inspect the lower door edge.
  • Confirm the spray arms can turn.
  • Check sink or disposal backup.
  • Look for foam or wrong detergent.

Common brand patterns

Bosch E15, LG AE, and Samsung LC are common leak-related searches, but each model handles detection differently. The public advice should stay conservative.

If the code returns after visible checks, service is usually safer than cabinet removal.
